THINGS TO DO IN ILIGAN CITY

People would usually ask me why I love Iligan City and why I never stop talking about it. Have I told you my most keyword search entry always always have " Iligan Falls" ? I've got countless post about Iligan, don't wonder.  This is probably the best time that you (Yes, you) guys should stop asking me and go read along my list. Do I sound too bratty? Pardon, don't take it the wrong way. I'm trying to sound pa-cool lang. (LOL)

Okay here we go! Apart from the fact that it is just a bus ride(6 hours is not a joke! )  away from our place. Iligan City is a City one shouldn't miss. Iligan City stands out because of its extremely unique charm and the many many things this city has to offer. and not because my ex boyfriend lives there. Comprende?

I've compiled a list on why I love Iligan City. Its a "things to do in..." "things to try in...." of some sort. Lets not make it long and go right straight to the point.

Why??????

WATERFALLS HOPPING

Need I say more? Iligan City is not a city of Majestic waterfalls for no goddamn reason.. Iligan has around 40 waterfalls in all and 20 something of it is pretty accessible. I was able to visit 7 waterfalls in Iligan. Maria Christina Falls, Tinago Falls, Dodiongan falls, Mimbalot falls, Pampam falls, Kalubihon Falls and dalipuga falls. I'm challenging my self to explore more. By the way, I'm really itching to visit Limunsudan falls.

FOODTRIPPING

Food tripping and food searching really tickles my fancy. Its what I love most when traveling. In Iligan City, there are numerous food establishments where you can satisfy that traveler's hungry stomach. Most establishments serves filipino food but Iv'e seen other establishments that serves a number of other cuisine. There's also a Thai and Italian restaurants in the area. One of the funniest food tripping that I did in Iligan City was eating the first humongous Ice cream Halo halo at the Ice Factory on a challenge! First to finish the bowl in 15 minutes wins. A challenge between us, the bloggers (  me & Petri) and GMA Artist John Feir and Bernadette. Ofcourse, we won! The undying support of our group never failed.

Food Establishments to check out:
Jacko's Kan-anan & Grill.
Tedt's Cafe
Aruma Cafe
Pizzarella
B.Bu.Q
Am's Chicken
Pater al Kuwait
Tita Fannies
Calda Pizza
Ice Factory
Fontina
El Canto Grill
Brew's Almighty Coffee Shop (Yummy coffee and suman!)
Mackies Chicken
Meongs Soup Shack
Iliganons (Durian shake!)

Enjoy a beautiful sunset view by the bay.. Mind you, never dare swim! Read my sunset experience here to know why! :D

TARTANILLA RIDE

I love Iligan City because of cheap tartanilla rides! With 7php  you can ride the Tartanilla already! 10 pesos at most! Im a kid at heart, this kind of activity really amuses me.

Never leave Iligan City without buying or hoarding Sukang Pinakurat!

I hope that this list is convincing enough! Iligan City will celebrate their patron fiesta and Diyandi Festival, 3rd week of September. What are you waiting for? Visit and Experience Iligan City now!

You may use my blog's search bar on the mid right corner of this blog to look for my Iligan City posts.

  14. As a 6 ( and counting ) time visitor to Iligan City all the way from the opposite side of the world, people ask me from time to time why I keep going there. Your blog easily expresses many of those reasons. When my friends here in New York USA hear of my adventures and read about them on the internet upon my return home they can hardly believe so many of the things I have enjoyed in Iligan City. I never said I am a typical tourist. Just about anything and everything I had a desire to see and / or participate in when I visit Iligan City even though they may not be considered tourist attractions, special arrangements have been made for me to see these things. I was welcomed at MSU-IIT, one of the Philippines top rated universitys when I desired to see what was there. Can you imagine me, a foreigner walking into a popular Iligan FM Radio station and doing a pasalubong give-a-way contest live on the air ? Yes, I did that ! Being invited to participate in a week long celebration at the Award Winning Iligan City Jail. Being an active participant at the Monday morning flag raising ceremony at the City Hall complex and so many more things that are of interest to me that are not necessarily considered as a tourist attraction.

Now of course, all of the things mentioned above, have been in addition to the many tourist attractions Iligan City offers. So many great places to eat, as mentioned in this blog, and more that keep opening up between my visits that I find out about on the internet always give me new things to look forward to.

When you hear the comment " The warmth and hospitality of Iliganons " I have found that to be very true.

Here is a link to some reviews I have posted on one of the popular tourist websites that will give you some additional things to consider when visiting Iligan City. I have written them to cater to a foreign audience as I feel that Iligan City is a place just waiting to be discovered by the rest of the world.
