Sta Cruz Falls, Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte

We visited Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte after our Waterfalling Adventure in Iligan.
We visited two waterfalls in Kapatagan; the Cathedral Falls and Sta. Cruz falls. We visited Cathedral falls before Sta. Cruz falls.

WARNING: PHOTO HEAVY POST

habal habal race.

We arrived around 2ish in Brgy. Kapatagan. Met up with the Brgy. Captain and one of his constituents (who accompanied us to the waterfalls). It was gloomy and felt like it was gonna rain the moment we started our trek. It is said to be just a 2- kilometre trek so I said to my self that I can do it, not knowing its a kilometer and two of trek uphill, downhill, crossing rivers, hopping from one huge rock to another and one must have some goddamn "spiderman skills" for this activity.

and that's what I'm talking about. I lost count on how many times we had to cross a river.

It wasn't an easy trek at all but Its a whole lot of fun. The water level was higher than usual, (probably it rained a lot the day before.) making our trek a little harder. The current wasn't a joke and it was really strong so we had to take a lot of precaution. It was harder to balance too! That's something Im pretty bad at. We were just laughing and making jokes all through out that trek.  It was about an hour or two of river trailing, climbing up mossy hills and down slippery slopes.  It was fun! After all, you're after an adventure, right? *methinks.

More photos after the jump............

Crappy photo from my cheapo phone.

Tadaa! It was enthralling sight to behold.  I was awestruck at its size and mighty drop and its surrounding was naturesque for my liking. Awe inspiring!! especially when seen upclose. This is about 90 or over a hundred feet high and considered as a Block waterfall. Its beautiful! It has a wide basin but it was muddy at that time. One of the nicest waterfalls I've visited and given its remote location deep in the beautiful forests of Baranggay Sta. Cruz it was undeniably the highlight of our Kapatagan visit.

Travel Notes: How to get there and other tips.

-From Iligan or Pagadian to Kapatagan Town via bus. Fare will be around 100-150Php
-Hire a Habal-habal at the Kapatagan Town Centre to Brgy. Sta. Cruz for 30-50Php. travel time is 20-30 minutes.
-It's highly recommended to hire a guide since trail gets hard or tricky especially during wet season.
- You can also visit Cathedral Falls and Sta. Cruz falls on the same day.
- Bring enough water and trail snacks.

Thank you to Maam Rhoda Secuya, the ever gorgeous Tourism officer of Kapatagan town for accompanying us that day. Thank you also to Hon. Paul Lagura and Brgy. Capt. Neceas Booc of brgy. Sta Cruz for the warm welcome.

Thank you Kapatagan! I shall return and take loads and loads of photos. Promise!!and ohh eat loads and loads of crabs!

PS: I left my camera at the hotel so I obviously got every photos from Glen of www.escapemanila.com ,Ferdz of www.ironwulf.net  and Clement of www.bestspotsph.com . Photos without watermarks are from Doi of www.thetravellingfeet.com Thanks guys!!!

  1. Your photos bring back good memories from my childhood. Sadly, the falls is not as majestic as it was before. I hope the local government will initiate programs to beautify the falls and make it a top tourist destination in the province.
